Drew Douglas


Drew leads Counsel House’s Melbourne practice and brings with him three decades of working at the highest levels of government and politics.

During Drew’s lengthy career in Victorian politics he was senior political and policy adviser to Premier Jacinta Allan during her tenure as Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.

Drew has senior management experience with federal and state governments and the energy, transport, and other infrastructure industries. He has extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the Victorian public service and has held senior roles in the Victorian Department of Transport and Victorian Department of Infrastructure. During his time as adviser to Jacinta Allan, Drew was a senior member of the team leading the largest infrastructure project investments in Victoria’s history totalling more than $100 billion.

As part of his private sector experience, Drew has firsthand understanding of the impact of government decision making on business and has held senior roles in the corporate sector for one of Victoria’s largest energy companies.

In addition to his Victorian experience, Drew draws on deep understanding of state and federal relations and has worked in the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as Public Diplomacy Manager at the Australia High Commission in Papua New Guinea.

Prior to his career in Victorian and Federal politics, Drew held a number of successful positions across consulting, government, and politics in his neighbouring home state of Texas and in Washington, DC, including as a political staffer to the US Attorney General in the Clinton Administration.
